If the development includes works on a TPO tree you first need to inform (by submitting a standard application form) and consult with the Local Planning Authority that is responsible for that tree, about the proposed works. It is important that the information on the form makes clear what the proposed work is and provides adequate information to support the case.

The LPA should be able to provide guidance on what is permissible and following this you should appoint a tree specialist (arborist) to perform the works.
