In order for a project to begin and be delivered, several parties need to be involved each one of which bringing in a different set of skills and carrying different responsibilities. A list of the most typical structure of a design and construction team can be summarised on the following table:

Main Contractor | Employed by the client, to perform the main construction works. |
Sub-contractor | Employed by the main contractor to carry out specialist works. |
Site Agent / Foreman | Main Contractor’s representative on site to oversee the construction works. |
Clerk of Works | Engaged by the CA or directly from the client to oversee the quality of work. |
