What is a Nominated subcontractor?

In sub-contractor nomination, the client directly selects a sub-contractor to perform specific parts of the works, who is imposed upon the main contractor and the main contractor does not really have a say on who the chosen sub-contractor can be. So in effect, the appointment of nominated sub-contractors establishes a direct contractual relationship between the client and the sub-contractor.

The main contractor is still permitted to make a profit from the use of nominated subcontractors on site, but must provide ‘attendance’ which is usually the provision of water, power, restrooms and other services, to enable the nominated subcontractor to do his job.
