What would be the consequences to your practice if you did not maintain CPD?

Every practice registered with the Landscape Institute needs to maintain CPD (Continuing Professional Development) sessions for its staff, as a standard of the Code of Conduct. The consequences to your practice if not keeping up with it will sooner or later become obvious, but there might also be disciplinary consequences from the Landscape Institute itself if through an audit it is proven that the practice’s staff has not kept up with the minimum 25 hours of CPD annually.

Maintaining a high level of skilled staff requires the sacrifice of work time (or lunch breaks which is also common) but the benefits of a well trained office make up for this sacrifice in the long term. These benefits can include:

  • Innovation and creativity
  • Work efficiency
  • Awareness of recent Legal, Planning and Policy updates
  • Reduce the possibility of claims.
